Falls City Council to Meet Monday Night

 (KLZA) The Falls City, City Council will meet Monday night at 7 p-m.  

One agenda item is the appointment of a City Attorney and Deputy City Attorney.  Doug Merz is currently the City Attorney and Robert Meyer serves as the Deputy City Attorney. At the October 15th Council meeting the City Council discussed a request for an increase in the hourly rate from $60 an hour to $120 an hour plus reimbursement for expenses. The Council tabled the matter for further discussion at a later meeting.

On October 23rd Mayor Tim Hersh sent a letter to the Weaver and Merz Law Firm requesting letters of resignation from Merz and Meyer. In a letter to Mayor Hersh on October 28th, Merz and Meyer requested additional time to consider the Mayors request.

Other agenda items is a request from Time Warner to place a drop box on the sidewalk at 1816 Stone Street;  EDGE Executive Director Beckie Cromer will present the organizations quarterly report and a memorandum of understanding between the City and Vantec will be discussed.

An injury prevention program will be discussed as will a request for additional part time drivers for the Falls City Volunteer Fire Department.  A request to use Chase Street from 13th to 20th Street for the Veterans Day Parade on November 12th at 1:30 p-m will be reviewed.  A request to rent Prichard Auditorium for a wedding reception on December 31st and allow alcohol to be served will be heard and the Council is expected to take action on bids from EZ Construction Company recommended by Southeast Nebraska Development District for three projects.  All three bids are in the amount of $24,995.
