Winter Weather Awareness Urged Wednesday
11/12/2012

(KNZA)--Last week, it was spring like weather across the local area; this week, we start off far colder, which serves as a reminder that winter is lurking in the near future.

On Wednesday, area residents are reminded to develop a plan for the winter months ahead, with the day designated at Winter Weather Awareness Day(Play Audio)

That's Chad Omitt, Warning Coordination Meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Topeka.

He says residents should prepare winter weather survival kits, both for the vehicle, and for the home, prior to winter's worst arriving locally.

Join us Wednesday for this weeks edition of More Than Just A Soundbite.

We'll talk in depth with Omitt about what you can do to keep your family safe, while looking ahead to what we can expect during the approaching winter.

We'll talk with him Wednesday-Winter Weather Awareness Day-at 6:15 in the morning an again at 1:05 that afternoon.
