02/01/2013

(KTNC) - A man accused of leading authorities on a high-speed chase through rural areas of Richardson and Brown Counties has been charged with two felonies.
Thirty-seven year-old William Holbrooks of Falls City was charged with operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest and criminal mischief during a hearing in Richardson County Court on Monday.  Both charges are Class 4 felonies.
Authorities say Holbrooks was the driver of a Kia that led officers on a high-speed chase through rural areas of Richardson and Brown Counties on January 11th.
The chase started in Falls City, crossed over into Brown County, and back to Richardson County, where the chase ended when the vehicle was ditched at a farmhouse in the rural Barada area.
During Monday’s court appearance, a public defender was appointed to represent Holbrooks.  A preliminary hearing will be held in Richardson County Court at 1:00 p.m. on March 6th.
Holbrooks is being held in the Richardson County Jail, with bond set at $40,000.
