Feedback Mixed for Williamstown Halfway House Proposal
03/12/2013

(KAIR) -- A proposal to start a halfway house in Williamstown was brought to light with mixed feedback during Monday’s meeting of the Jefferson County Commissioners.

County Attorney Jason Belveal met with the board and said he’s not opposed to the idea, but feels the group that wants to provide “work release” for two prisoners in the Jefferson County Jail is not going about the process in correct order and says Williamstown may not be the appropriate place for it.

Eugene Dick, a Perry citizen, spoke out to Commissioners, expressing concern that the halfway house would cause safety problems and devalue neighborhood property values.
