UPDATE: One Injured Following Accidental Shooting

(KAIR) -- A Topeka man suffered injuries following what has been determined as an accidental shooting Friday morning at Perry Lake.

Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Herrig says they received a call from the Shawnee County dispatch at about 6 a.m. of a subject at the St. Francis Hospital being treated for a gunshot wound.  A Jefferson County deputy responded to the hospital to investigate.

Herrig says the victim, 22-year-old Brace A. Turbot, and some friends were camping at the at the State Park at Perry Lake and had been drinking.

While attempting to take apart his handgun, Turbot shot himself in the leg.

The incident remains under investigation.
