Citizens in Atchison County won’t be allowed to burn for at least the next few days.
Atchison County Commissioners unanimously extended the burn ban issued Sunday until further notice.
Interim Emergency Preparedness Director Wes Lanter issued the ban shortly after 11 Sunday morning after getting phone authority from all three commissioners.
Commissioners cited current and future forecasted dry and high wind conditions as the reasoning behind the ban.
Also in their regular meeting Monday, Commissioners were attempting to finalize language on update burn permit standards.
