Peru State College (PSC) and the City of Peru are partnering together for Cleanup 2012 from 9 a.m. to noon this Saturday, April 28. Volunteers, who are encouraged to bring their own work gloves, will meet at City Hall at 9 a.m.
Volunteers will pick up nearly anything, including but not limited to:
Bagged garbage, Used Oil, Metal/Scrap Iron, Batteries, Tires, Furniture,
Carpet, Appliances, Televisions, Computers, Circuit Boards, Modems, Monitors, Scanners, Servers and Keyboards, Copiers, Fax Machines, CD/DVD Players and Drives, Lawn Mowers, Snow Blowers, Garden Tillers,
Bicycles and Swing Sets.
Residents are asked to have their items set by the curb prior to 9 a.m. on Saturday. For more information or for assistance getting items curbside in Peru, contact Cindy Moran at 402-872-6685.
The event is part of Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup, the nation’s largest annual community improvement program which brings the power of 3.8 million volunteers and participants to create local change. Volunteers donated more than 5.2 million hours in 2011 to clean, beautify and improve more than 16,500 communities during more than 30,600 events in all 50 states and beyond. Activities included beautifying parks and recreation areas, cleaning seashores and waterways, handling recycling collections, picking up litter, planting trees and flowers, and conducting educational programs and litter-free events.
