Little Tarkio Bridge Project Update
10/26/2012

(KLZA) The Little Tarkio Creek Bridge in Atchison County, Missouri, on U.S. Highway 136 east of Route M near Tarkio, is on schedule to be completed before December 1st, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation.

The bridge has been closed since September 4th, when the contractor, Widel Construction of Blackwater, Mo., began working on this steel structure bridge. The new beams are set and the concrete deck is scheduled to be poured the last week in October, however, this is dependent on weather and contractor scheduling.  A signed detour is in place for the duration of this project.  All motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time, due to this detour.

The Little Tarkio Creek Bridge, when complete, will result in smoother and safer transportation for motorists on U.S. Highway 136.  The bridge will be wider by seven feet, going from 25 to 32 feet.  Additionally, a two-foot paved shoulder will be installed surrounding the bridge as part of this project.
