Meeting Highlights Progress on Humboldt Auditorium
10/29/2012

(KTNC) - Progress continues to be made to renovate the Humboldt Auditorium.  Friends of the Humboldt Auditorium and the Humboldt Auditorium Board opened the Auditorium up to the public for the annual meeting last Thursday.
Approximately 60 people attended the meeting, and got a chance to tour the building and listen to speakers discuss plans for the building.  Speakers were present from the State Historical Society, the Department of Economic Development, and the architect firm that’s working on design plans for the auditorium.
Barb Gould with the Friends of the Auditorium says all speakers expressed optimism about what is being done to refurbish the 70-year-old auditorium.  (play audio  :35)
Part of the restoration is complete, with new windows installed recently.  The next step, Gould says is to replace the roof.  (play audio  :35)
Gould estimates the cost to remove and replace the old roof – including adding insulation – is between 60-and-70 thousand dollars.
Gould says those who attended the meeting liked details of the three plans that the architects presented for the building’s interior.  (play audio  :28)
Plans include making the auditorium handicap accessible.
Gould says the Friends of the Auditorium organization is now in the process of raising funds to replace the Auditorium roof.
