( KNZA )-- The recent decision of the Brown County Commission to pay 100 percent of the 2013 single health insurance plan for county employees while funding no additional tiers draws the attention of Sheriff John Merchant.
Merchant voiced his concerns to county commissioners Monday about their decision, saying most of his work force is younger with families and deserves special consideration...( play audio )

The county is facing a 18 ½ percent premium increase from its health insurance provider for 2013. However, Commission Chairman Steve Roberts said the decision to no longer to pay for coverage above a single plan did not happen overnight..( play audio )
With Commissioner Keith Olsen absent from the meeting, Roberts said the commission would revisit the issue when they meet Wednesday and a full commission is present.
