( KNZA )-A detailed housing and property study will be conducted in the Hiawatha community.
The Hiawatha City Commission Monday evening approved a memorandum of understanding with the Hiawatha Foundation for Economic Development allowing the use of $12,000 in “ designated line item funds” in the organization’s 2012 budget for the study and additional funding, if needed, from the 2013 budget.
Information and data will be collected on existing housing availability, property utilization, property condition, and property potential. The information from the study will be used for short and long range planning purposes.
HFED Director Don Nigus said his board approved the study earlier this month..

The study is be to completed by November 30th of next year, with a written report to provided to the city and HFED by January 31st, 2014.
