(KAIR)--Atchison County authorities are on high alert, following the reported attempted abduction of an 11-year-old girl Tuesday evening.
Atchison County Sheriff John Calhoon says it happened around 6:30, near 6804 Ottawa Road, as the intended victim was walking with her dogs.
Calhoon says while the suspect has not yet been located, he's described as a white male in his 30's driving a dark colored full size pick-up truck with a large dent in the drivers rear quarter panel.
The man is believed to have dark colored brown wavy hair, a slim build with dark colored eyes and a tatto on the right side of his neck.
Calhoon says the suspect may also have dog bite marks on a hand or ankle, believed to have been incurred as he attempted to abduct the 11-year-old girl(Play Audio)
Calhoon wants to avoid any panic, but does say parents should be cautious with their children as the suspect remains on the loose(Play Audio)
The sheriff's office, with the assistance of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, worked the crime scene through Tuesday night, with the search continuing Wednesday morning.
Anyone with information about the attempted abduction should contact the Atchison County Sheriff's Office at 913-367-4323.
