(KNZA)--Monday was the filing deadline for Kansas candidates to reveal their campaign finances, and the documents for a heavily contested State Senate seat show a clear disparity between the incumbent and his challenger. 

The summary of contributions, for the period of July 27th through October 25th, shows incumbent Republican 1st District Senator Dennis Pyle beginning that time frame with 152-thousand-408-dollars-and 60-cents in available cash.  

That compares to the 28-thousand-639-dollars in available cash, for the same period, held by Democratic challenger Steve Lukert. 

Once Pyle's total expenditures and other disbursements were totaled, coming in at 71-thousand-045-dollars-and 11 cents, he ends the period with 81-thousand-363-dollars and 49-cents. 

Lukert's total expenditures and other disbursements totaled 20-thousand-898-dollars and 34 cents, leaving him with with 7-thousand-741-dollars in cash to end the period. 

The documents show that Lukert has relied heavily on individual, and small business contributions, with some larger donations made by special interest groups, or PACS, with the largest single contribution coming from the Kansas National Education Association which gave one-thousand-dollars. 

Pyle, meanwhile, has received contributions from across the board, ranging from individuals and small businesses to corporations and PACS. 

Among the well known names contributing to the Pyle campaign are the national  telecommunications firms of AT&T and T-Mobile and the Wichita-based Koch Industries. 

Pyle also gained the financial support of the Kansas Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee, which donated 1-thousand-dollars to his campaign.
