(KTNC) - Visitors to the Stalder Gallery in Falls City might get a sense of nostalgia from the latest exhibit. Artist Randy Waln, a professor at Peru State College, opened the exhibit with a gallery talk Friday evening.
The exhibit, titled “The Degeneration of the Family Farm” includes a series of black and white family photographs interwoven with larger color prints of the farmstead Waln grew up on in Wyoming.
The people have gone from the farm, and Waln said, many of the buildings no longer exist. He says he hopes people who view the exhibit get their own meaning out of it. (play audio :43)
The color prints are computer composites of photos Waln took of the farm during visits over the course of several years. He explained the prints were created using a process called H-D-R photography. (play audio :52)
“The Degeneration of the Family Farm” will remain at the Stalder Gallery, in the Falls City Library and Arts Center, through December 29th. It can be viewed during regular Library hours.
The exhibit will be featured at other locations in Nebraska, including a showing at the Governor’s residence in Lincoln in May. Waln said he hopes to arrange to have the exhibit shown sometime in his home state of Wyoming.
