Nemaha NRD Accepting Tree Orders
11/05/2012

(KTNC) - The Nemaha Natural Resources District is accepting orders for its conservation tree program.  NRD officials say they have a variety of conifers, deciduous trees, and shrubs available.
Seedlings will be delivered next spring, but orders need to be placed well in advance.
If you will to have the NRD plant your trees, you must place your order by December 31st.  To be eligible for the NRD’s planting service in the spring, a minimum order of 200 trees is required and ground that is currently in sod must be tilled this fall.
You have a little more time to order if you’ll be planting your own trees.  Those orders will be accepted until March 1st, or until inventories are depleted.
The NRD is offering eight varieties of conifers, ten deciduous species, and ten types of shrubs this year.
Orders must be placed in lots of 25 per species, with a cost of 90-cents per seedling, plus a $2.50 handling charge on all orders, except those planted by the NRD.  Machine planting costs one dollar per tree, and advance payment is required before seedlings will be reserved.  Orders will be available for pickup in April.
To place an order, request NRD planting services, or for more information, contact the Nemaha NRD office in Tecumseh at 402-335-3325, or visit the Nemaha NRD’s website.
