Perry Woman Dies In Fire

(KNZA)--An early Tuesday morning Jefferson County house fire leaves a woman dead. 

It happened in Perry, where County Sheriff Jeff Herrig identifies the victim as 

64-year-old Mary Quezada, who, due to her use of a wheelchair, was unable to escape the fire.  

The house is considered a total loss.

Fire crews rushed to the blaze, at 209 Main Street, around 9:30 in the morning,with five departments, including Perry Police and the Jefferson County Ambulance, all responding. 

WIBW reports that Quezada's body was taken to Kansas City for an autopsy. 

The State Fire Marshal's Office is assisting with the investigation, with the preliminary findings indicating that the cause appears accidental.
