Effingham to Clean Wells
11/08/2012

(KAIR) -- For the first time since they were constructed decades ago, one of the wells that feed water to the city of Effingham will be cleaned.

The council passed the cleaning of "well four" by Layne Western for 68 hundred dollars, which is one of the three wells that supply the town.

City Clerk Pat Strine says the 50 to 100 year old structure will be cleaned using acidic substances to remove any buildup and discussions are underway to clean more wells in the future.

The city also announced the recent hiring of Debbie Falk as City Treasurer/Court Clerk.

The council also heard from a concerned citizen about the recent no parking signs placed on Seabury Street by Atchison County Community Schools.

They referred the citizen to report their concern to the school district.
