(KAIR)--Following a nearly two-month investigation, the man, accused of committing an aggravated robbery in Atchison after a gun sale went bad, is now in custody in Jackson County, Missouri.
“A warrant charging Salem Ghani with aggravated warrant was issued by the Atchison County District Court,” said Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson. “He was taken into custody on our warrant in Lee Summit, Missouri on Sept. 9. He remains in the Jackson County Jail.”
Wilson said Ghani awaits pending charges related to the Atchison case but also charges that have since come about in Lee Summit.
Wilson added, more than likely, Ghani will remain in Jackson County until the charges he faces there are resolved. Then, he’ll face the Atchison charges.
“There was a number of things we needed to follow up on to get him identified—and we did,” Wilson said. “Once we got him identified we’ve been communicating with Lee Summit police about him.”
Wilson said the charges stem from a July 19th incident involving Ghani and a 25-year-old victim.
The suspect went to the victim’s residence in the 500 block of Y Street in Atchison with the intention of selling him a gun. However, the victim decided not to purchase the weapon—which resulted in Ghani using that weapon to rob the victim and take cash from him, Wilson said.
He also added the two men had known each other prior to the incident.
