The newly selected Chief of Police for the City of Horton is ready to begin his duties(Play Audio 8 secs)
That's Beau Hasenohr, of rural Hiawatha, who, on Monday, was chosen by a vote of the City Commission to fill the position of Police Chief(Play Audio 12 secs)
Hasenor brings with him a background in law enforcement, working for the Brown County Sheriff's Department from January 2002 through October 18th of last year.
Prior to his time with that agency, he served as an officer with the Hiawatha Police Department(Play Audio 16 secs)
Horton Mayor Tim Lentz calls Hasenohr the “right fit” for the Horton Police Department, citing his “strong background” in community law enforcement.
Hasenohr was one of two candidates interviewed for the position of Police Chief after a third candidate withdrew.
The position became open when current Chief Dick Luzier, who ends his time in the seat Wednesday, resigned abruptly late last year.
Making his decision to step down public the day after Christmas, Luzier has never stated publicly why he chose to do so.
Hasenohr officially begins as Chief of Police on Thursday.
