Peru State College is being recognized in a national publication. The college says U.S. News and World Report has ranked Peru State second in the nation for value for out-of-state students.
PSC President Dan Hanson says in a press release that the distinction is primarily due to the school’s “one rate any state” program which allows all students, regardless of residency, the opportunity to attend Peru State for in-state tuition rates.
The college launched the “one rate any state” program in the summer of 2009. Since then, out-of-state enrollment has increased 36-percent at the school, and the Nebraska State College System Board of Trustees made the program permanent last June.
Hanson says a side benefit of the tuition program is that it could have a positive impact on economic development in southeast Nebraska by exposing more people to the region. He says approximately 80-percent of Peru State graduates live and work in Nebraska following graduation.
Tuition and fees at Peru State College for the current academic year average $5,648 for on-campus undergraduates. Per credit hour rates are $135.25 plus fees for on-campus undergraduate courses, $200 for online undergraduate courses, and $250 for online graduate courses. Both of the college’s graduate programs are offered entirely online.
