Atchison County’s long-time Clerk has filed for re-election.
Pauline Lee filed Thursday by petition for the Democratic nomination for the position.
She is the first to file for the office.
Lee began working as a clerk in the Atchison County Clerk’s office in 1970.
She was then promoted to Deputy Clerk in 1974 and was appointed to fill the remaining term of the former clerk in August 1977, winning re-election eight times.
Candidates have until noon on June 1st to file.
Primaries are scheduled for August.
