(KAIR) -- Benedictine College in Atchison has been named a College of Distinction for the 2012-2013 academic year by Four Distinctions LLC, a company dedicated to higher education.
Only 294 colleges and universities of the approximately 4,500 schools in North America were named to the list.
Benedictine joins Baker University, Bethel College and Tabor College as the only institutions in Kansas to make the list.
In the Colleges of Distinction listing, the colleges and universities are not ranked and instead are members of a consortium of other equally impressive schools.
High school students, parents and school counselors can use the website as a search tool to learn more about the colleges and universities included on the list.
Tyson Schritter, executive editor of the Colleges of Distinction eGuidebook says “Each school goes above and beyond the four distinctions that really make an undergraduate education: great students, engaged teaching, vibrant communities, and successful outcomes."
Colleges and universities are nominated for participation in Colleges of Distinction through high school counselors' recommendations as well as quantitative research.
The website, CollegeofDistinction.com, offers free dynamic college profiles and easy-to-use search tools for students, parents, and counselors.
It also includes tips from high school guidance counselors, essays from college students, presidents and other members of campus communities.
