(KAIR) -- A 28-year-old Atchison County man is expected to face several years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges, including kidnapping, as part of a plea deal Friday in Atchison County District Court.
Stephen Kinzer also pled guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary.
In exchange, charges of burglary, aggravated assault and theft were dismissed.
He was arrested in late August by the Atchison County Sheriff’s Department for conspiring to break into the Tony Baker residence at 9249 Ottawa Road and threatening Baker after he returned home at gunpoint, which aided in Kinzer’s escape.
He was discovered less than 48 hours later and taken into custody.
His brother, Reagan, is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on November 15th for his alleged role in the incident.
Stephen Kinzer also pled guilty to several other charges which came up during the course of the investigation, including the burglary of a machine shed and theft of gasoline from Robert Winzer in August.
He also pled guilty to misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, which was discovered in a search of his residence during the kidnapping investigation.
Stephen Kinzer also pled guilty to a May 2010 burglary of a residence at 16983 274th Road and the theft of Atchison Police Officer Brent Duncan’s revolver in February 2003.
Sentencing is scheduled for December 10th.
Both the prosecution and defense anticipate a total sentence of 169 months, subject to verification of his criminal history.
