11/02/2012

(KAIR) -- A 44-year-old Denver, Colorado man will head to prison on a possession of marijuana with intent to distribute charge.

Victor May was sentenced to 30 months Friday morning in Atchison County District Court.

May was arrested in late May by Atchison Police following a traffic stop near Trinity Lutheran School on an alleged seatbelt violation as part of the “Click it or Ticket” initiative.

During the stop, officers found 246 grams of marijuana that was in a manner prepared for distribution.

During sentencing, May said he had a permit out of Colorado to have the marijuana for medicinal use, however, Judge Martin Asher cited its lack of viability in Kansas, under law.
