Auburn Exploring Future Recreational Needs

 (KLZA) During the Auburn Council meeting Monday night Mayor Scott Kudrna reported on a visit to the community that day by representatives with Olsson Associates who were taking a look at the recreation facilities in Auburn.  The Parks and Pool Committee are seeking help in planning for future recreational facilities in the community.

Mayor Kudrna said that a situation last year in looking a cost estimates for a handicap swing for Legion Park brought the idea to the forefront.  ( play audio :39 seconds ) 

The Mayor said that one of the important things to consider is not just the initial cost of new equipment and facilities for recreation, but also the long-term costs.  ( play audio :26 seconds ) 

No action was taken by the Council members on the agenda item.  Olsson Associates will prepare some ideas and report back at a later date.  There will be no costs involved.

In other action Monday night the Auburn Council approved ordinances confirming the sale of two properties near the high rise apartment.  One of which sold for $1,500 and the other for $1,700.  

Six housing rehabilitation projects were approved, each with a price tag of about $20,000. Grant funds will be used to cover the costs.  

The Auburn Council also approved Mayor Kudrna’s re-appointments of E.C. Hartwig and Harry Bridgmon to the Municipal Tree Board.
