(KLZA) -- During Monday’s meeting of the Auburn City Council Larry Draper addressed the Council asking for an amendment to the city code to allow use of All-Terrain Vehicles on city streets. While no action was taken, Mayor Scott Kudrna expects there will be action on the request at the next Council meeting.
If an ordinance is approved to allow use of ATV’s on city streets, operators would need to have a valid drivers license and obey all traffic laws. ATV’s could cross state highways but not drive on them.
In other business the Auburn Council approved a request for a STOP sign at the northwest corner of 20th and N Street. Following a public hearing the Council voted to give favorable comment to a liquor license request for Luis Lopez wanting to re-open the Whiskey Run Bar on Central Avenue.
Mayor Kudrna says Auburn will also be applying for another Community Development Block Grant to make downtown improvements, piggybacking on previous work which included window work and tuck pointing projects that spruced up the community.
Approval was also given to a resolution to close the Highways in Auburn during the Nemaha County Fair parades July 11th and 12th.
