(KLZA)-- The Auburn City Council conducted the annual public hearing on the 1 & 6 Year Street Plan Monday night. Mayor Scott Kudrna says the plans include armor coating P and O Streets and some engineering on storm sewers north of Highway 136 and smoothing of some concrete streets.
The Nemaha County Leadership Class presented information on a plan approved by the Parks and Pool Committee to build two sand volleyball courts at the Auburn Rec Complex. The Council also approved the expenditure of up to $500 in Keno funds for advertising the Ariens Earth Day Community Event scheduled for April 18th.
Following a second public hearing on a change in zoning, the Auburn Council approved changing the zoning for a property at 1100, 10th Street from Residential to Commercial – Residential so Dave Peters will be allowed to tear down a dilapidated building an construct a storage facility for his business.
The annual update of ordinances from the Nebraska League of Municipalities were approved.
The Council also approved the annual audit report which indicated the City of Auburn is in good financial shape.
The Council approved the sale of a city owned fire truck to Eggers Brothers. Their bid was $1,500.10. The sale of a city owned property at 715, 11th Street at a Sheriff’s Sale on February 27th was also approved.
Council members also approved the creation of a committee to work on getting fiber-optics to Auburn homes and businesses. Permission was also granted to use city facilities for the Annual 4th of July Celebration by the Auburn Eagles.
