A 52 year old Atchison man will get work release from jail and presumptive probation on multiple theft charges.

Newton Colvin was sentenced to six months in county jail Friday for the misdemeanor charge of criminal damage to property.

Colvin was given a one year post-release presumptive probation after he had a 10 month felony theft prison sentence suspended, running concurrent to a nine month and six month suspended sentence for two other counts of felony theft.

Colvin was also given a 10 month sentence suspended for another count of felony theft that would run consecutive to the concurrent sentences.

This all means, if he violates probation after his release from jail, he could be sent to varied time in prison on all those counts.

th that occurred from November 2010 to August 2011 in various parts around the county.

Another person involved in the case, Christopher Price, was sentenced to 24 months probation and 60 days in Atchison County Jail on multiple counts.

Colvin also must pay nearly 10 thousand dollars in total restitution to the victims in the case.
