The 2023 Cobblestone Festival was a huge hit and and several area youth showed up to participate in this years Hot Wheels Race!

Organizers of the 2023 Coblestone Festival thanked Thad Harms and his assistants who set up and ran this years race.

The Hiawatha RedHawk volleyball team started the year off with their annual Red/Blue Gatorade Scrimmage this past Thursday evening.  The cost to enter the event is usually a donation of sports drink to the school.

This year, the team asked attendees to bring items to be donated to the Brown County Humane Society in Hiawatha.  The team then delivered the donations to the Humane Society.

The Horton Charger Baskeball team got together on the first day of school to welcome back the students of Horton Elementary School!  

We love supporting our local communities and we love it even more when we see the youth in our communities supporting others!

A member of the Holton FFA Chapter was recently selected to the National FFA Band.  Madeline Murnahan is a 2023 Holton graduate and played the clarinet in the HHS band.

Selection to this nationwide honor band is very prestigious and is a tremendous opportunity. The band will practice and perform the entire week of National FFA Convention in Indianapolis October 28-November 4th. Madeline is currently investigating if she can participate in national band due to her obligations with the K State Marching Band this fall. She is only the 5th Holton member in the chapters history to be selected in the national band, chorus, or talent program.

Madeline also competed in National FFA Extemp speaking last fall. She earned her State FFA Degree and finished top 4 in State FFA Prepared Public Speaking last May. She now is working on a music degree at K State. Amazing job. No matter which way this ends up we are proud of you Madeline and the talent it takes to be selected is a huge honor. Congrats on a tremendous FFA career.

The 2023 Falls City Cobblestone Festival will be held August 24th through the 27th.  The annual event is highlighted by a Parade on Saturday at 11AM.

This past week, the Falls City Chamber of Commerce announced this year’s Grand Marshals for this year’s parade.

Marty & Gail Froeschl have been selected as the 2023 Cobblestone Festival Parade Grand Marshals!

The couple have been instrumental in many Falls City organizations including Falls City Rec, Falls City Chamber of Commerce, Falls City Planning & Zoning Commission, and both school districts. 

Soon our local schools will be busy again with the sounds of a new school year.  Over the last couple of weeks, local teachers have been busy prepairing for the return of their students.

Several businesses and local organizations have stepped up to say thank you to our teachers with gifts of snacks and treats.
