Hiawatha Schools Collect Food For Those In Need

The Hiawatha High School Student Council recently organized a "Food Fight" across the USD 415 school district.  Students from all three schools were encouraged to bring in non-perisable food items which were then distributed to families in need within the district.  

Combined, the three schools collected 1,117 food items!

Congratulations to the Holton Lady Wildcat Cheerleading Team as they placed 2nd at the KSHSAA Game Day Spirit Showcase in Topeka on Saturday, November 18th.

Local FFA Group Hosts NE District FFA Leadership School

Congratulations to our members on an outstanding NE District FFA Leadership School. Today we hosted nearly 300 FFA Members and Advisors from across the district at Holton High School for 9 different FFA Leadership Development Events. A huge thanks to Ms. Clark and the Royal Valley FFA for hosting with us and everyone that provided items for the hospitality room. We couldn't have done it without great judges and also our outstanding volunteers behind the scenes: Alysse B, Elisa B, Wyatt S, and Clara L.

Awesome news: We had both Par Law teams qualify for State! Good luck to our Chapter Par Law Team and our Freshmen Conduct of Meetings Teams as they compete at the State FFA Convention next May in Manhattan.

Doniphan West Students

Students from Doniphan West High School spent part of their Friday helping their community.  The group of students could be found throughout Highland helping those in need of assistance with yard work.  

With the leaves of fall covering yards throughout town, the group of students helped to clean up five yards.  A group of 29 students along with staff helped remove leaves, sticks and trash for those who needed a little assistance with this year’s fall clean up.

Jeff West Students Visit Boston!!!

Some Journalism students from Jeff West HS  left for Boston this week to attend the national convention. The first night there, they walked the Freedom Trail. Among the highlights on the trail were the Old North Church, the Paul Revere House, and the Old State House. They stopped to eat at the market at Faneuil Hall - the “Cradle of Freedom,” where Revolutionary-era meetings and protests took place.

Falls City FFA News State Champions

Falls City FFA News- STATE CHAMPIONS! On Tuesday the 24th the Falls City FFA traveled to Broken Bow NE for state land judging. Wednesday October 25th, Four members of the Falls City FFA competed in the state land judging competition. It was a wet and cool day, but it was still successful for the Falls City competitors. Three members finished in the top 10, the Falls City FFA are now State Champions, who will be competing in the National Land Judging Competition in Oklahoma City, OK next spring. Individually, members receiving purple ribbons include, Brock Niedfeldt in 3rd place, Ethan Morris in 7th place, Kemper Foster in 10th place, and Lathan Richey earning a pink ribbon in 61st place. There were over 140 competitors and 40 schools represented in this year's state competition. Congrats to Fall City for their first place finish and State Championship! Reporter Breean Eickhoff

Falls City High School October Students of the Month!!

The staff and administration of Falls City High School have announced the ?selections for October High School Students of the Month. The honors go to the following students: Upperclassmen- Talon Anderson, a junior, is the son of Troy Anderson and Erin Jarred, Emily Vitosh, a senior, is the daughter of Jason and Stacey Vitosh. Underclassmen-Emmett Daake, a sophomore, is the son of Brian and Denise Daake. Carlea Dunkhas, a sophomore, is the daughter of Gale and Lori Dunkhas and Tysha Fangmeier. The students were nominated by high school staff and are being recognized for being innovative, responsible, resilient, and resourceful. Each of the students was praised in nomination comments for “academic excellence, going above and beyond what was asked of them, their helpfulness, and their leadership, and serving as excellent role models for their peers,” according to high school principal Gale Dunkhas.
