Axtell Cheerleaders Thank Supporters With a Special Treat!!

  A fresh, hot delivery of Krispy Kreme doughnuts arrived for the Axtell High School cheerleaders to deliver to all those that helped them in their latest fundraiser. Thank you to everyone that supported the cheerleaders. The money helps with uniforms, camp, and extras for a cheerleaders life.

Pony Express Re-Ride Begins

The Annual Pony Express Re-Ride started June 17th from St. Joseph, Missouri to Sacramento, California with rider exchange stops in Seneca and Marysville, Kansas. Riders carry mail almost 2,000 miles traveling 24/7 for the 10-day trip.

Onaga Museum Teaches Kids About Bees

A fun afternoon with the honeybees and Robin's scavenger hunt with "bee" clues. For example, a honeybee has over 3000 lens in their eyes. Where in the Museum would you find lens? Let's explore and find out.  Demonstrating how honeybees give directions to other honeybees -- by dancing! Who knew their buzzing served a very critical purpose in their life cycle.

Onaga Veteran Receives "Quilt of Valor"

It was an honor to attend the Quilts of Valor presentation to veterans of the area today at the Olsburg American Legion. Receiving a Quilt of Valor from Onaga were Veterans Jack Schlegel, Dennis Droge, and Gene Gilsdorf. Dennis is a member of the Onaga Historical Society.
The Society can always depend upon Farmers State Bank for financial support of the Historical Society. Two of the recently retired administrators of the bank received a Quilt of Valor. Seen on the left is Jim Moore and on the right is Steve Ebert.
What is a Quilt of Valor? Quilt of Valor (QOV) is a handmade quilt that is machine or hand quilted. It is awarded to a Service Member or a Veteran who has been touched by War. The Quilt says unequivocally "Thank you for your Service and Sacrifice in Serving Our Nation".

Congrats Jeff West Varsity Cheerleaders!!!

The Jeff West Varsity Cheerleaders had a VERY successful UCA camp in El Dorado this past week. They worked hard as a team and grew their skills. They came away with quite a few awards! Brianna Bartlett, Ashley Moser, and Katelyn Petesch tried out and were named All-American Cheerleaders, the team earned a blue ribbon for their Spirit Routine Evaluation, a GOLD for their Camp Routine Evaluation (the only gold given that night!), and a GOLD/1ST PLACE OVERALL IN THE SPIRIT CHAMPIONSHIP ROUTINE on the final day!!! We are so excited to watch this team continue to improve and perform for their fans! GO TIGERS!!
 

STEP Foundation Donates Manikin

Eastridge Nursing Facility will be using the manikin for annual skills fair for staff, for the training of new CNA's and for the just-in-time skills that may be needed any given day. The manikin was made possible through a STEP Foundation grant. Congratulations Eastridge! Keep up the good work in caring for the residents of Nemaha County!

Congrats Sarah Tschauder!!!

Help us congratulate Sarah Tschauder who was inducted into the Teacher Hall of Fame this past Saturday in Dodge City, Kansas! She joins the ranks of these outstanding USD 409 educators Rod Heffley, Kathy Hines, Liz Anthony, Karen Glennon, Tricia Regan, and Susan Myers! She is very deserving of this honor and we are so proud to celebrate with her!!

Congrats to the Hiawatha FFA Band

Congratulations to the State FFA Band. Wonderful performance in McCain Auditorium.
Dana Howard represented the Hiawatha FFA.
It was amazing how 41 FFA Members from across the state come together for two days of practice before their performances!
What a great experience!!
