Pony Express Museum Has a Surprise for the Kids!

It's back to school already and the Pony Express Museum in Seneca has a surprise!
Word got out that sometimes young families don't have .75 cents for a kiddo pony ride in the Museum or they are on a walk, kids in wagons, pushing carriages and didn't bring their wallet.
We recently had 3 generous donations to help with that.
One out-of-town teenager even gave us his last .75 cents in his pocket to pay-it-foward for a kid.
Kids, come put on a cowboy hat, get on the Pony, have your important people take your picture and giddy-up-go on a free ride.
The museum is FREE to tour, come on in! Tues through Sat 9am-1pm.

Talented Readers at Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle School

There are some very talented readers at NCEMS! Mrs. Helm caught students in their favorite college team gear and created these amazing posters to decorate the library. They look absolutely amazing! (Thank you, Mark Bergman, for getting them hung up)
If you wear Husker, Jayhawks, Wildcat or Sonner gear, watch out you might just get your picture taken and added to the rest!

Seneca Fire Dept to Raise Funds for New Fill Station

The Seneca Fire Department is excited to be apart of this years Match Day on Friday, Aug 22. We are raising funds to replace our SCBA fill station. An estimated cost to replace the unit is $30,000. SFD greatly appreciates our community and those who continued to support our 100% volunteer fire department.

Steve Kottich Honored as Cobblestone Parade Grand Marshal

We’re proud to honor Steve Kottich as this year’s Cobblestone Parade Grand Marshal!

A former 2 ½ term Mayor of Falls City and owner of Miller Monroe Company, Steve’s vision and foresight transformed Falls City’s economic development efforts, paving the way for major business recruitment successes like WASP/FAST, Herzog, Ames True Temper, and Vantec.

During his 10 years as mayor, Steve spearheaded the purchase of KCP&L’s gas franchise, creating our municipally owned gas company—providing the capital to launch a thriving economic development program. He also served as the first President of EDGE, guiding the transition from public to private economic development and setting the stage for long-term success.

Beyond his leadership roles, Steve has given countless volunteer hours to our community—from serving on the Richardson Foundation to announcing Sacred Heart football and basketball games. Always ready to lend a hand, his impact can be felt in every corner of Falls City.
