Rock Creek and Sacred Heart Students Top Winners at Peru State College Art Day
A SEASON TO REMEMBER. “This is the first time I’ve ever had my whole Forensics team qualify for State competition,” says Speech and Drama teacher Lynette Coon. This Forensics season a whole fifteen students have qualified for State. This has been a very exciting time for the whole team. They have seen their hard work and dedication pay off over the season, as they have won more and more awards and medals. Not only has the forensics team been successful in competition, but they have also grown so much in other ways. “Without Forensics I probably wouldn’t be half the speaker and performer that I am today. I also would be missing out on so many connections and fond memories,” says Senior, Aiden Nemechek.
State Forensics will take place on Saturday, May 7th, hosted by Bishop Carroll Catholic High School in Wichita, Kansas. These competitors will be busy working hard in preparation for State. This will and has truly been a season to remember.
Congratulations to the Horton High School Concert Band on receiving a 1 rating at the KSHSAA State Large Group Festival today! The band played their best and were great representatives of Horton High School! Great Job Band! 2 years in a row!

by:James Howey | Atchison Globe
ACCHS senior thrower Keagan Lott signed his letter of intent to continue his athletic career with Kansas Wesleyan University Tuesday in Effingham.
Lott plans to participate in the discus and shot put at the next level as well as weight and hammer throwing.
"I've put a lot of work into this, and it's nice to have so many people here to support me," Lott said. "It's been a dream of mine for quite some time."
Lott said the feel of the campus and just how his relationship with Coach Shaquelle Lewis developed were the deciding factors in him choosing the Coyotes over other programs.
"I really enjoyed their campus, and it just made me feel at home compared to all the other places I went," Lott said. "I connected a little bit better with the coach as well."
Lewis said he and Lott were able to connect on a sufficient level from even just their first phone call.
"We were on the phone talking about Christianity and throwing, and we were able to just tie that all together," Lewis said. "It was really refreshing to hear from someone who has the same perspective I do."
Great day at TVL Forensics for Frankfort! Clara Kee placed 1st in Impromptu, Lily Hansen placed 6th in Serious Solo, and Xander Hull & Devin Helmerichs were 3rd in IDA!
