The community mural project is looking fabulous and both school’s high school art classes will finish up the details in the coming weeks! Special thanks to Christina Wertenberg and Chris Bennett for designing and leading the project!

We had 88 people complete hands in the business poker run! Congratulations to Janice Lotter and Linda Santo who both had full houses and will $50 Chamber Bucks each!

Atchison County Community Junior Senior High School congratulates the 2023 Homecoming Royalty, who were crowned prior to the football game against Rossville on Friday, September 22, 2023. Jeston Vessar was named Homecoming King, and Danielle Chew was named Homecoming Queen. Rounding out the royal court were candidates Lauren Courter, Adler Koontz, Austin Smith, and Ellie Speer. Assisting with the crowning were Jordan Caplinger and Trenton Kimmi, members of the 2022 ACCHS Homecoming court, crown bearers Milly Scott and Randsom Phillips, and the ACCHS cheerleaders and Student Council. 

Horton Homecoming is next week! Chargers will host the Minneapolis Lions on September 29th. First, we all need to get in the CHARGER Spirit! Today we start with the introduction of our 2023 Homecoming Candidates! Gannon Becker, son of Lisa & Steve Becker. Amaya Boller, daughter of Carmela & Jon Boller III. Maggie Heinen, daughter of Kristen Beyer & Kendra & Lucas Heinen. Ashtyn Keo, daughter of April & James Keo Jr. Chandler Newman, son of Dana Patterson. Kaden Smith, son of Ronda & Jason Smith.

Brown County Developmental Services in Hiawatha has been celebrating their staff during Direct Support Professionals (DSP) Week!

BCDS Director, Susy Overdick says, "The staff at BCDS are so important in the lives of the individuals they (BCDS) work with.  Not only are they employees at BCDS, but they are also considered family by the individuals they serve."  She also ads that it takes a very special person to be a caregiver.

National DSP week in 2023 is September 10th thru 16th.

Queen candidates are Danielle Chew, daughter of Ryan and Leslie Chew; Lauren Courter, daughter of Paul and Mauri Courter; and Ellie Speer, daughter of Brandon and Myka Speer. King candidates are Adler Koontz, son of Justin and Brooke Koontz; Austin Smith, son of Greg and Stacey Smith; and Jeston Vessar, son of Ryan & Trisha Vessar and Jennifer Vosler. The crowning ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m., Friday, September 22, 2023, at Tiger Stadium, prior to the homecoming football game between ACCHS and Rossville. 

Congratulations to our 2023 Jefferson County North Homecoming candidates! Queen candidates are Emma Ruckdeschel, Evelyn Smith, Clara Johnson, and Emily Langley. King candidates are Grady Noll, Calvin Manville, Ethan Noll, and Connor Keirns. Crowning will take place on Friday, September 22.
