Hiawatha First Graders Learn About Being Good Citizens

Stacy Jasper and Bethany Meyers from HP&R came to talk to Hiawatha Public School first graders about helping take care of Crestview Park (Blue Park) throughout the school year. This is a fun partnership between the first graders and HP&R. Students learn about being good citizens and taking pride in their community.

Congrats to Highland Student Eli Dorn

Congratulations to Eil Dorn for being selected as the 2024-2025 recipient of the Jolie McDaniel Memorial Scholarship! Eli is a second year student in the Diesel Technology program. Jolie McDaniel was an original employee at the Western Center and her family provides this scholarship opportunity in her memory. We are so grateful for their generosity.

Nemaha County STEP Foundation Match Day Sets New Record!!

The Nemaha County STEP Foundation held its fourth annual STEP-Up Nemaha Match Day on Friday, August 23, 2024. A new net record of over $247,000 was set. Donors gave in person at the Seneca Free Library between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. with KMZA radio broadcasting live from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

NCEMS New Playground is Open!!!

The new playground a Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle School is open and the students enjoyed every minute of it!!

Hiawatha Maple Leaf Sculptures Are Out!!!

The first Maple Leaf sculptures are out! The first one is at the Chamber office, the second one at Shelter Insurance and the third one at the elementary school! We’re so grateful to the people who have purchased these leaves!

Marysville Church Gives Free Haircuts to Kids Going Back to School

112 haircuts were given by New Hope Church in Marysville to send kids back to school looking great! We feel so blessed as a church to have so many wonderful people volunteer their time and talents to help families get ready for back to school season!
Huge shoutout to Kim Campbell, Abby Tormondson, Wanda Wallman, Shelby Cole, Hanna Schober, Kelsey Kenworthy, Jean Gallagher, and Hanna Heffley for all their hard work. We encourage you to continue to support their local businesses and thank them for being such a huge blessing to our community!
Also a big shoutout to all of the volunteers who helped us make this event a huge success. None of this could be done without you and we are so thankful that everyone can come together to make this outreach so amazing!

Onaga Historical Society Closes Out The Summer Youth Program With Bingo!!

The Onaga Historical Society held a last activity of the season for young people in our community. A great time playing Bingo with great prizes provided for by Paul and Marcella Perez's daughter, Sandy. Finishing up the summer with the traditional root beer floats for everyone.
