Michael S. Oswalt, 60, of Atchison, KS, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the Medicalodge of Atchison.
Michael was cremated. A visitation will be held from 12 until 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home.
Michael was born on May 6, 1957 in Topeka, Kansas the son of Emmett K. and Mary Patricia ‘Tish’ McKee Oswalt. Michael attended St. Benedict’s Elementary School and graduated from Maur Hill Prep School in 1975. Michael worked as a skilled bricklayer his entire adult life and his craftmanship is found in buildings all over in the Atchison, St. Joseph, and Kansas City, MO areas. Mike was an Eagle Scout and he enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Mike and Lori Jones were married on August 14, 1999 in Atchison, KS.
Michael is survived by a son, Matthew Wayne Oswalt, Effingham, KS; step-son, Tobin Ford, Effingham; step-daughter, Elizabeth (James) Vieyra, Hutchinson, KS; six brothers, David Oswalt, Leavenworth, KS; Kelly (Beth) Oswalt, St. Joseph, MO; Jerome Oswalt, Dearborn, MO; Owen Oswalt and Brian (Amy) Oswalt, both of Atchison; Chris (Shelley) Oswalt, Platte City, MO; four sisters, Diane (Mike) Perkins, Atchison; Patty (Jim) Blevins, Highland, KS; Marcia Collins and Amy (Mark) Peters, both of Leavenworth, KS; and his caregivers, Jay and Sidwell Jones, Atchison.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Tish Oswalt; a nephew, Jerome Oswalt.

Eva D. Martin, 90, of Whiting, KS passed away Monday, December 25, 2017 at Lexington Park Nursing Home in Topeka. She was born March 6, 1927 in Muscotah, KS, the daughter of James Bernard and Eva Mae (Derringer) Wagner.
Eva lived most of her life in the Whiting community. She graduated from Whiting High School in 1946. She was a homemaker and housewife. Eva also worked for 6 years as a State Livestock Commissioner, 9 ½ years for AT & T and over 18 years at Wagon Wheel and Pooge’s Café in Whiting. She was a member of the Holton V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary.
Eva married Paul Frank Martin on September 18, 1954 in Minden, NV. He preceded her in death in 1991. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Crable and 3 brothers, John, Walter and Carl Wagner.
Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Paul Martin (Gerre) of Denton, KS; a sister, Dolly Kleppin of Topeka, KS; 5 grandchildren, Jory, Tasha, Kody, Korey and Taylor; 7 great-grandchildren; a niece, Stacy Graf of Topeka, KS; a nephew, Chad Kleppin of Topeka, KS and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Eva requested no formal services-her family is honoring her request. She will lie in state at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton beginning Wednesday afternoon, December 27, 2017. A private family graveside service will be in the Horton Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Paul. Hiawatha native Margaret J. Henby 93, of Decatur, IL passed away at 9:50 p.m., Thursday, November 30. 2017, in Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Mt. Zion.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 8, 2017, in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha, Kansas. Rev. Nancy Tuma, of the First Presbyterian Church in Hiawatha, will officiate. Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Hiawatha, KS will be assisting the family with services. Memorials may be made to the Golden K (Kiwanis) of Decatur Scholarship Fund.
Mrs. Henby was born March 29, 1924, in Hiawatha, KS the daughter of Tonie and Emilie (Hansen) Torkelson. She married Wendell F. Henby on January 1, 1947. He preceded her in death on February 26, 2014. Mrs. Henby was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she served on the Board of Deacons of the United Presbyterian Women. She had served as the Past President of the All States Club and was a former member of South Side Country Club and the Decatur Genealogical Society.
Surviving are her niece: Phyllis Grzywinski of Bartlett, IL; nephew: Larry Cannon of Omaha, NE; niece: Doris Hawkins of Richfield, MN; nephew: Glenn (Jane) Boyd of Duncanville, TX; niece: Edwina (Steve) Glass of Lawrence, KS; niece: Peggy Antonson of Newberg, OR; nephew: Bernard Torkelson of Buckley, WA; special friends: Stephen (Susan) Rayhill of Mt. Zion, IL; and Sharon (Kevin) Peabody of Taylorville, IL.
