Lucille Ann (Erpelding) Cameron, 71, lifelong resident of Lancaster, KS passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, July 19th, 2016 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri after a long battle with cancer. Memorial services will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 6th, 2016 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Noll officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until time of service at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Lucille cherished the comradery of the Cancer Support Group of Muscotah. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations payable to the Muscotah Chapter of the American Cancer Society and send in care of the funeral home. Lucille was born on July 1, 1945, in Atchison, KS the first child of ten children to Francis “Fritz” Erpelding and Eveline (Regan) Erpelding. She graduated Atchison County Community High School in 1963 and worked at Benedictine College as a secretary to the dean. She worked as an office manager for USD 377 at the grade school in Lancaster, where she very much enjoyed working with children and kept mementos of her time there until her death. She was active with the Friendly Farmers and Lancaster Lightning 4H Clubs, the Lancaster Lions Club, and the St. Louis Catholic Church. Nearing retirement, she worked at The Junction in Atchison. Lucille was very fond of gardening and bird watching at her Lancaster home, and also enjoyed seeing Kansas basketball games. She has been described by friends and family as strong, generous and determined with an awesome spirit. Lucille loved to talk about the travels and successes of her sons. We will all miss her chuckle. A heartfelt thank you to all who have offered love and support for the last few years. Lucille married Duane L. Cameron on April 7, 1972. Survivors include her loving husband, Duane, and her sons, Steven Duane and John Francis Cameron, her siblings Mike (Jan) Erpelding, John Erpelding, Jean (Gary) Behrnes, Jim (Jill) , (Engaged) Erpelding, Rita (Roger) Smith, Marjie (Keith) Noll, Susie (Don) Jacobs and Tom (Jennifer) Erpelding along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, nephew, Aaron and brother, Dan.

Timothy Charles “Wap ship shi” Ramirez, 62, of Mayetta, KS passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 23, 2016 in Topeka at St. Francis E.R.
He was born April 17, 1954 in Holton, KS the son of Tomas Ramirez and Maxine M. Nozhackum. Tim had lived on the Prairie Band Potawatomi Reservation all of his life. Tim proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. He worked for Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation as Road & Bridge Director for over 27 years. He was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and We ta se American Legion Post #410.
Tim married Jackie Mitchell on March 28, 1991 in Las Vegas, NV. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a daughter, Angela Wahquahboshkuk Mosqueda of Topeka, KS; a son, Joe Wishteyah of Mayetta, KS; 4 sisters, Linda Tecumseh of Mayetta, KS, Beatrice Ramirez of Taos, NM, Brenda Nozhackum of Mayetta, KS and Rita Ramirez of Horton, KS; a grandson, Kehdemko Tyler Bell; a granddaughter, Kishno Bell and a great-grandson, Drayden Bell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Clint Wahquahboshkuk and 3 brothers, Thomas A. Ramirez, Merlin Ramirez and Rueben Ramirez and a sister, Angie Ramirez.
Dinner and Wake Services will be Monday evening, July 25, 2016 at Nozhackum Hall, west of Mayetta. Family and friends will follow in procession at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016 for burial with military honors in Mitchell Cemetery.

Jack Hickman, 82, Atchison, Kansas died Thursday, July 7, 2016 at his residence.
Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Church with Rev. Jeremy Heppler, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A parish rosary will be recited on Monday, July 11, at 6:30 PM in the chapel of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions are suggested to Mt. Calvary Cemetery Endowment, St. Benedict Parish, or Cancer Research and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Jack was born August 15, 1933 in Atchison, Kansas the son of John William and Anna Gertrude Stevenson Hickman. He attended Sacred Heart, St. Joseph’s Catholic Elementary Schools and Atchison High School.
He and Ellen M. Miller were united in marriage on February 4, 1956 at St. Louis Church at Good Intent.
Jack worked as a machinist at Kramers Manufacturing in Leavenworth, Kansas, Fairbanks Morse in Kansas City, Kansas and Stein Laboratory in Atchison, Kansas before moving to Colorado in 1969 to work for the Department of Energy Rocky Flats Plant in Golden, Colorado where he retired on September 1, 1992 as a project engineer. He and his wife moved back to Atchison in 1994 and he operated a small machine shop for a few years.
He served with the United States Navy from July 26, 1951 until his honorable discharge on June 14, 1954.
He was a member of St. Benedict Parish, and the V F W Mile High Post #1771 in Lafayette, Colorado. He also belonged to the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen Hickman of the couple’s home in Atchison, KS, a son, John Lee Hickman, Broomfield, CO, four daughters, Pamela Kay (Dale) Bowman, Holton, KS, Vickie Ann (William) Priest, Myrtle Beach, SC, Lisa Rae (Dwight) Hickman-Lott, Westminster, CO, Mary Kim (Billal) Ameur, Denver, CO, fifteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Gene Hickman, half-brothers, Johnny Hickman and Kenneth F. Banks, step-brother, Edward Jones, Jr., a sister, Delores Darlene Hickman and half-sister, Christina Ganter Larkin.

Susan Ann Denton, 62, of Holton, KS passed away July 4, 2016 at her home. She was born October 6, 1953 in Holton, KS, the daughter of Gilbert L. and Lucile (Brown) Denton.
Susan graduated from Holton High School in 1972 and later graduated from Brown Mackie School of Business in Salina.
She had lived most of her life in the Holton community and also Topeka and Carbondale.
Susan worked for the State of Kansas in the Department of Revenue for over 27 years. She attended the Evangel United Methodist Church and was a past-member of the First Presbyterian Church, both in Holton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Dennis and Lyle Denton.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Friday evening. Gerald Lee Schumann, 77, of Emporia died on Friday, July 1, 2016 at the Holiday Resort Care Center in Emporia.
Gerald was born on June 27, 1939 in Sabetha, Kansas the son of George Henry and Edith May Feller Schumann. Gerald was baptized into the Triune God on July 30, 1939, and was confirmed in the faith in 1953 all in Hiawatha, Kansas. He married Orinne Alice Lacy on August 29, 1959 in Hiawatha, Kansas. She survives.
Other surviving family members include: sons, Mike Schumann and wife Shannon, Daniel Schumann and wife Donna, David Schumann, all of Emporia, and Samuel Schumann of Topeka; daughters, Michelle Gavin and husband Brad, and Gaye Harden and husband Russell, both of Emporia; former daughters-in-law, Sandra Heins, and Frankie Carr; sisters, Suzanne Anderson of Lawrence, and Nanci Oswald and husband Gary of Hiawatha; grandchildren, Josh Taylor, Jerrod Schumann, Kali Carson, Jamie Hilton, Lacie Schumann, Garrett Schumann, Colton Schumann, Angela Richard, Ashley Salter, Chelsea Barry, Jacob Schumann, Dee Dee Schumann, and Matthew Harden; and great-grandchildren, Shayne McGee, Austin Houck, Bode Richard, Harper Richard, Traeger Garnett, Porter Garnett, Jagger Salter, Audrina Barry, Sebastian Barry, Miles Schumann, Grayson Schumann, Mandee Schumann, Brian Schumann, Brandon Hammond, Randall Hinson, Madelyn Harden, and two more on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Schumann; and brother-in-law, Dean Anderson.
Gerald owned and operated Gerald Schumann Electric Inc. in Emporia for 41 years. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Emporia.
Funeral services are 10:30 A.M., Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Messiah Lutheran Church, Emporia, with the visitation Wednesday evening from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Maplewood Cemetery, Emporia.
The family requests no flowers, with memorial contributions instead to the Emporia Christian School. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.

Virgil A. Sudbeck, 84, of Baileyville, KS, died Monday, July 4, 2016, at his home in Baileyville.
Virgil was born September 12, 1931, on a farm north of St. Benedict, KS, the son of Franz and Mary A. Olberding Sudbeck. He grew up on the family farm northwest of St. Benedict, KS, attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from St. Benedict High School in 1949. His father died when Virgil was 11, causing him to grow up fast and to work as hard as any man on the family farm.
Virgil purchased a farm prior to joining the US Army, with active service from January 20, 1953 to December 31, 1954 and discharged at the rank of Corporal. After serving his country; he returned to the area and resumed farming.
On May 22, 1956, he married Loyola Heiman at St. Mary’s Church in St. Benedict. In 2011, Virgil and Loyola move to Baileyville and he continued his farming operation. The couple celebrated 60 years of marriage, she survives.
Virgil was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict, serving on the church council and as usher for a number of years. Virgil enjoyed coaching baseball, fishing, hunting, playing cards, Polka music, and watching his grandchildren play any sport. He loved to watch any and all sporting events; he was a quiet man and possessed a dry sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by a son, Max F. Sudbeck on July 8, 2003; his parents, Franz on December 20, 1943 and Mary A. on September 16, 1990; and a brother, Linus Sudbeck on August 7, 1990.
He is survived by his wife Loyola; a son, Dale (Deann) Sudbeck of Seneca; four daughters, Lora (Doug) Heiman and Mary Beth (Jim) Haverkamp both of Baileyville, Julie (Eric) Smith of Colwich, KS, and Amy (Larry) Kuckelman of Seneca; 20 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
The Rosary will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM, Wednesday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 AM on Thursday, July 7th at St. Mary’s Church in St. Benedict. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Regis F. Becker, 79, of Oneida, died Friday, July 1, 2016 at his home.
He was born on August 29, 1936 on a farm south of Coal Creek, the son of Raymond L. and Rosalia Strathman Becker. He attended a country school in that area. In 1943, his family moved to a farm east of Seneca-South of Oneida; where they ran a dairy operation. Regis served in the US Army National Guard from 1954 to 1962. He remained farming the family farm until the day of his death.
Regis loved the working of the land and took pride in his cattle.
Regis was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Seneca.
Regis is survived by his three sisters, Marilyn Becker, Alice Becker and Carolyn Becker all of Seneca.
Rosaries will be prayed at 2 PM Tuesday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 AM Wednesday, July 6th, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Seneca.

Myrtle Evelyn King, 99, of Hiawatha, passed away at her daughter’s home in Hiawatha, Sunday, July 3, 2016.
She was born in McLouth, KS, November 29, 1916, one of five children born to the late Grant and Nita Gardner Myers. Myrtle grew up in McLouth, attending school there, later graduating from high school with the class of 1934.
Myrtle married Harold F. King, in 1934. To this marriage, they had seven children. They owned the locker plant in Nortonville before moving to Hiawatha in 1963, where he was manager of Hite’s Locker Plant. They later divorced in 1965.
Myrtle was well known in Hiawatha for being a waitress at the Delmonico Café for 16 years, along with several other restaurants through the years. She was a Green Thumb worker through the Brown County Health Dept. in the late 1980’s.
She loved watching her family grow, caring for flowers, playing bingo, and going to the Casinos. She was very active until her health no longer allowed her to get out.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, a son Robert in 1964; a daughter Elizabeth Bertels in 2010; and 7 grandchildren.
Survivors include four daughters: Shirley (John) Pantle of Nortonville, Nancy Scherer and Barbara (Leroy) Kiefer, both of Atchison, Debra King of Hiawatha; a son Richard King (Fiance’ Dianne Hudgins) of Falls City, NE; 21 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and 35 great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Myrtle’s life is planned for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 9, at Eternal Hope Family Life Center, 424 Oregon St., Hiawatha. Pastor Rich Lehmkuhl will officiate. Cremation will follow services with private family inurnment at a later date at the McLouth Cemetery.
Friends may call at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home after 10 a.m. Friday where the family will meet from 6 until 8 that evening.

Darryl W. Wood
Darryl Wayne Wood, 42, of Atchison, KS, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016, at Mosiac Life Care in St. Joseph, MO after a sixteen year courageous battle with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Darryl loved listening to Heavy Metal and Hard Rock bands, especially Metallica, AC/DC and Guns & Roses; and he attended many Rock concerts. Darryl also enjoyed watching movies and riding Harley Davidson Motorcycles. Darryl is survived by his parents, Roxann (Wick) and Danny Henson of Atchison; a brother, Sean Henson of Spring Hill, KS.

Virginia Lee Brown, 65, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at her home.
She was born on March 29, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of William and Georgia Brown Powell. Virginia worked as a printer pressman prior to going to work for the U.S. Federal Government in the Department of Immigration.
She married James Brown on July 14, 1984 in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2010. Virginia loved to go camping and fishing with Jim and spending time with her family.
Survivors include a son, Ed (Laura) Fisher of Independence, Missouri; daughter, Jennifer Brown of Kansas City, Missouri; three sisters, Regina Powell of Humansville, Missouri, Vacha McCarty of Independence, Missouri and Georgia Ryan of Independence, Missouri; four brothers, Bill Powell of Spirit Lake, Idaho, Dorsie Powell of Olympia, Washington, Lahiri Powell of Weableau, Misouri and Michael Powell of Independence, Missouri; two grandchildren, Billy and Alexandra.

Marian Carleen Roebke of Pawnee City, Nebraska went to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, July 2, 2016 reaching the age of 78 years, 10 months and 6 days. She was born the fourth daughter of Orville and Pearl (Cockrill) Alderman on August 28, 1937 in Table Rock, Nebraska.
Carleen attended country school and continued her schooling through 10th grade at Pawnee City, Nebraska. As a young adult she worked at Beatrice State Home until moving to Fort Collins, Colorado,where she worked at Montgomery Wards.
Carleen married the love of her life Martin (Marty) Roebke on July 6, 1962 in Pawnee City, Nebraska. While in Colorado they enjoyed camping and fishing along Sheep Creek and Pouter Canyon whenever possible. Carleen and Marty also enjoyed music and dancing. Many times pulling out the guitars, accordions or playing on the piano. There are many memories of music jams enjoyed when families would gather together.
They moved back to Pawnee City, Nebraska in 1969 to care for Carleen’s ailing father, they purchased his home and settled in . Side by side they worked from home, Carleen with her upholstery shop and Marty’s repair on lawn mowers, chain saws and such. Carleen also worked at various jobs in Pawnee City, Wee Winnie Wearables in Seneca, Kansas, some construction, CJ Foods and cleaning of some businesses.
Carleen was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Pearl Alderman, husband Marty, step sons, Martin Jr. and Marvin Roebke, sisters and spouses, Rotha (Raymond) Keuten, Norma Gail (Dan) Heath and Chuck Hyde, and three nephews and one niece.
Carleen is survived by sister Joan Hyde, Cheyenne, WY, step daughters,Marjorie Itzel, Myra Denton and stepdaughter-in-law, Shirley Roebke. numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends .

Eileen M. Koelzer, 80, of Baileyville, died on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Life Care Center of Seneca. She was born on August 20, 1935, on a dairy farm north of Baileyville, to Allie J. and Irene J. Hammes Koelzer. Eileen also helped take care of her folks in their later years and babysat for many of her nieces and nephews throughout the years. She grew up in the Baileyville community and attended Sacred Heart Grade School and graduated from the 8th Grade. She was employed by the Baileyville School District as a cook for the 46 years. After her retirement, she went to work for Roeder’s Huddle Restaurant in Seneca. Eileen was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville and the Altar Society; she was a volunteer at the Sts. Peter and Paul Mission. She enjoyed Bingo, playing cards, cooking, making pies, baking cinnamon rolls and her flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Richard Koelzer on May 6, 1947 and Elmer on July 1, 2011; and four sisters, Mildred Stallbaumer on August 31, 2006, Evelyn Heiman on December 22, 2001, Leona Bergman on July 12, 2015 and Marceil Haverkamp on March 18, 1998. She is survived by brothers, Regis Koelzer of Axtell and Gilbert Koelzer of Baileyville; sisters, LaVerne Uphaus of Topeka and Audrey Mueting of Seneca; and many nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be prayed on Monday, July 4th at 2PM at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30AM on Tuesday, July 5th at Sacred Heart’s Catholic Church in Baileyville. Burial in the church cemetery. Towanda Jaunita Goodpasture, 87 of Atchison, KS passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Atchison Hospital, Atchison KS.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Monrovia Cemetery, Monrovia, KS. Family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Jaunita was born July 26, 1928 in Atchison, KS the daughter of Lloyd John and Bertha Lurilla (Batterson) McCartney. She owned and operated the Wagon Wheel Restaurant in East Atchison, for many years. Jaunita also worked as a security guard at Wells Fargo. She enjoyed making stain glass, feeding her birds and squirrels. Jaunita especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a caregiver to many kids when they needed a loving home. She married George Goodpasture and they later divorced, she then married William Goodpasture and they later divorced. Survivors include four sons; Henry Goodpasture Rushville, MO, Cleo Goodpasture, Salem, AL, Tom and Ronda Goodpasture, Atchison, KS, William and Michelle Goodpasture, Warsaw, MO, four daughters; Towanda Chapman, Atchison KS, Tammy and Gary Freeman, Severance, KS, Terrie Goodpasture, Atchison, KS, Teresa Goodpasture, Atchison, KS, forty-four grandchildren, forty-two great grandchildren and thirteen great great grandchildren.
